The Linux Setup – Jose Mathew Manimala, Web Technologies Consultant

Jose Mathew Manimala’s interview is short and sweet, much like the Enlightenment window manager he loves so much. He’s also a dedicated vi user, which shows Jose likes his setup lean and mean. Also, if vi isn’t your thing, this thread will help you pick a text editor.

  1. Who are you, and what do you do?

My name is Jose Mathew Manimala. I am a web technologies consultant and work for many open source projects to help and develop usable websites.

  2. What distribution do you run on your main desktop/laptop?

I run the 32 bit version of Bodhi Linux, an Ubuntu-based distribution along with the 2.6.xx PAE kernel.

  3. What software do you depend upon with this distribution?

I depend a lot of the Enlightenment DE’s flexibility and the LAMP stack for most of my work. I am nuts about vi.

  4. What kind of hardware do you run it on?

I have an AMD Athalon 7850 BE (Kuma) processor, Gigabyte Mother Board, 4GB RAM, AMD Radeon 7750 1GB GC and a 320GB Caviar blue hard drive.

  5. What is your ideal Linux setup?

I have found my ideal desktop and after floating around for years and have come to settle on Bodhi Linux as it is currently the only stable shop for the Enlightenment desktop environment.

  6. Will you share a screenshot of your desktop?
