You can’t make money from open source

I’m not a big fan of sarcastic headlines. Open source is a viable economic model, though.
What I like most about the open source business model is that it allows people to make money rather than companies. Although as Swapnil points out, quite a few companies make money working open source. I’ve mentioned it before, but a great discussion of the economics of open source can be found in Decoding Liberation: The Promise of Free and Open Source Software.
