I’m a librarian and the author of Learn Linux in a Month of Lunches. These are the tools I used to write it. My previous book was The Librarian’s Guide to Academic Research in the Cloud. Details on how I wrote the book using Linux are here.

I started this site to document how I was learning Xubuntu, but I’ve become interested in how other people use Linux, too, which is why this site has evolved a bit. Also, the name got slightly smaller.

This is my most recent setup.

I used to run Xubuntu 10.04 on a ThinkPad T43. This is what I liked to use.

I then switched to Sabayon LXDE on a ThinkPad T420i. Here is the story on that.

After that, I switched to OpenSUSE 12.1 (GNOME) on the T420i. Details on the switch are here and here.

I’m on Twitter as @steven_ovadia and on Mastodon. I’m also on LinkedIn.

I can be reached at steven -at- this domain.
